Terming the visit of foreign envoys to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the ground situation as futile exercise, former union minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz alleged that it is unfortunate that Government of India (GoI) has not learnt any lesson from its past mistakes.
“A group of Foreign Envoys’ visiting Kashmir today is part of a futile Exercise on Public Relations by .GoI, Prof Soz said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
He alleged that it is really unfortunate that the GoI has not learnt any lesson from its past mistakes adding masters have rightly said that if the people do not learn a lesson from their mistakes, they are bound to repeat these mistakes, time and again.
Prof Soz said these Envoys will enjoy sightseeing in Kashmir and get back to their countries. Ultimately, this whole exercise will mean complete wastage of taxpayers money’.
“I have a feeling that the Envoys’ will read agony of Kashmiris writ large on the horizons in Kashmir”, he said adding the people of Kashmir are sure that security agencies will not be able to convince these Envoys’ that things happened to be normal in Kashmir after Abrogation of Article 370 of the constitution of India.
He said he hoped that the Envoy’s will realize the fact that Kashmiris are deeply sad and angry on the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India that happened to be the basis of the their constitutional relationship with India and they (the people of Kashmir) have already started a democratic movement for restoration of their internal autonomy enshrined in the Article 370 of the Constitution of India.
Meanwhile, moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) in a statement this afternoon alleged that organized tour of foreign dignitaries to showcase normalcy in the valley to the outside world is misleading . Peoples spontaneous strike, the only means of protest left to them, speaks volumes to the world of what people feel and want, the statement claimed.
However, the HC appeals to the delegation that for the sake of peace in this highly volatile region to use its good offices and help in facilitating dialogue among India Pakistan and people of J&K for the resolution of this long standing dispute and being an end to decades of uncertainty and suffering of the people of J&K.
